the

unnamed

road

We will move together or not at all.

Welcome to “The Unnamed Road” an Equity-Centered Leadership Development Program for Global Health Leaders in an evolving pandemic world.

How we do it?

Simple: We understand the personal is professional in Global Health Leadership.

Often the work of leadership development is that inner work of who we are as leaders - our wants, desires, personality, values-and learning to work from a self to systems perspective.

Great public health leaders embrace complexity, allow emergence and center it around equity.

In public health, the personal is professional. Development in both is how we unleash the broader social change, and is a non-negotiable in our pandemic world

We focus on 5 design principles đź”˝

design principles

Our leadership development program is guided by five core design principles. Fellows will dive into these principles and come to understand them deeply and be able to apply them in their own lives and work. At times, they may be countercultural to the environment in which they find themselves — uncovering and exploring this is where the magic happens!

Equity

To achieve the highest attainable standard of health for all, we need to disrupt and redesign systems. We must go beyond acknowledging health inequity to purposely inviting in diverse players and reckoning with power, history and healing

Relationality

Leadership is a regenerative resource that connects. It grows when we are in right relationship with each other and our ecosystem.

Emergence

Rejects presupposing outcomes and responds to what is happening in the environment with simple actions that can influence entire systems.

Co-Creation

Any act of brave collective creativity, it goes beyond the well-worn path of participatory design affirming human dignity while we continue to search for solutions together.

Transformation

Leading in such a way that impact is felt. This happens when a long term commitment is made to pioneer new pathways in ourselves and our systems.

First-Year CDC/PHI Fellows

We’ve got your back

The Unnamed Road is an innovative equity-centered systems leadership development program for first-year CDC/PHI Fellows to participate in an innovative equity-centered systems leadership program.

Our fellows dive into a dedicated practice of developing massive mindsets shifts to learn how to embrace vulnerability, engage complexity, allow emergence, and evolve substantially in a complex global world.

Our People

Public Health Institutions

Your catalyst for change

We work with leaders from around the world to dive into un-learning the ways we have been taught to lead, strategize, build, and "be" in the world..

The DSIL crew are expert emergent facilitators, experiential educational designers and accredited coaches that will challenge you and equally support you to evolve as the course progresses.

The Unnamed Road is unlike any leadership course you’ve ever participated in. Our experiential approach will not mimic the pedagogy of the academic institutions in which you were trained. This evidence-based program is world-class because it integrates your lived experiences and engages with what is emerging for you in real time. You will take back the skills you are learning into your work tomorrow, and the depth of learning will become ingrained in your lifelong career.
